Silencio!!!

It's Monday so that starts a whole new week of assignments. Of course the first thing you have to do is read the assigned chapter because if you don't do that, then you'll be lost when it comes time to do the rest of the work. So that's pretty much what my Mondays consist of--reading.

I have the most boring class on the planet: Research Methods in Criminal Justice. Have you ever taken a class, knowing it's required for your major, but the whole time you know deep down that you will never, ever, use this crap? Yeah, that's this class. The material is boring which makes it confusing which in turn makes it difficult to concentrate.

So tonight, as I'm trying to read this intellectual garbage, I have Jason who is lecturing Jorden about her doing something; I have Jorden, who is whining over said lecture; I have Chase, who keeps crinkling the plastic that his new Buzz Lightyear action figure came in; I have the tv on because the kids are watching their favorite show; and there's me whose trying to read more than one paragraph and answer this week's discussion question without looking like I have no idea what I'm talking about.

There are other options, none of which work for me. I can't leave the room because, simply, there's no place TO go. The way our house is designed, the noise just follows you. The library is out because you're not allowed to bring flash drives (even if it's for your own laptop. it's a security issue). Last option is to sit outside and read but it was way too cold and windy for that.

But I managed, albeit through gritted teeth, to get some work done. I'm just so very, very grateful that our weekly tests are untimed and open book!

I swear, they put a research class in for every major, no matter if you'll ever have to apply it.
