We had a semi-successful PT conference last week. It went pretty much they way I expected it would. Jorden's general and resource teachers told me and Jason that she was behind, blah, blah, blah. I let Jason do most of the talking so I could keep my razor tongue in check. And we learned a piece of vital information about what goes on in the classroom. This is only Mrs. Bates fifth year of teaching. The classes she's had before this are the combined 2nd and 3rd grade ones. So she's never had a student like Jorden before and she's at a bit of a loss when figuring out what to do with her. So we understand now why it seems as if Jorden's not getting what she needs. She mentioned what had helped her out is when we sent in little post its with notes about Jorden's homework and how she did. Mrs. Bates said by reading those little notes, she's able to adjust Jorden's work and pass the info off to her resource teachers.
All in all, we made some headway. We gave some tips, took away some info, and had somewhat of a sense that people are trying. We still have a very long way to go especially since her IEP needs to be completely rewritten, but we're moving forward in helping my girl to see success.
