Taking Off

Tonight marks our last night in Pennsylvania and tomorrow we start our journey to Alaska. Everyone keeps asking me how I feel about going and to be quite honest I really can't tell you. I don't know if I'm nervous, scared, excited, or a mixture of all three. I guess I really won't know until I'm ready to get on the plane.

Jorden is looking forward to getting on the plane but this will be Chase's first flight. It would have been nice if his first plane ride was a much shorter trip but we don't have that option. So we're making sure we take plenty of things for him to do and also a couple changes of clothes. Just to be on the safe side he will be wearing pull-ups instead of undies because you just never know...

Did you know that you no longer get complimentary snacks and beverages on planes anymore? You now have to buy that stuff and it's not cheap. So we'll eat in Pittsburgh and have snacks that we brought for the ride. The problem is when we get to Phoenix and we only have an hour layover. That leaves no time for an actual meal so we will have to get them something on the plane. It could be much worse so I'm okay with that. We also checked our seating arrangements for both flights and on the second plane they have us scattered around (stupid). Because it's a full flight we can't just switch so we had to pay for the choice seats so we all sit together. Unfortunately that's not a reimbursable cost because according to the Army, that was our choice to sit together, not theirs. They really don't care if a 7 and 3 year old sit completely by themselves surrounded by strangers.

So please pray for us on our journey tomorrow. It will be a very long day. We leave Pittburgh a little after 5 pm, fly to Phoenix and jump on another plane, then arrive in Anchorage at almost 1 am Alaska time which will seem like 5 am to us. I don't suspect that we'll be doing much of anything on Friday except going to the housing office so I'll get Jorden signed in for school on Monday. It's nice that we arrive on Friday because then we have the weekend to adjust. But please keep us in your prayers...

I found you via my friend Linda. I have a friend who just moved up to Alaska a few days ago. I'm not positive which post they're at, but I think it's the same one you're at. I'll have to ask her.

We are stationed in Germany, that was my now 5 yr olds first flight, he was not quite 2 when we moved here. When I went back to the states this summer for the first time, flew from Ks to Maryland for our trip back home, and we got snacks and drinks for free, just depends on the airline.

I hope you enjoy Alaska, my husband would LOVE for us to be stationed there and I'm sure I'd enjoy it too, a new experience! Everyone I've met who's been stationed there loved it!

God Bless
