The cold and flu season is upon us and it has hit our house...hard.
Last Friday Jorden had begun to show the beginning symptoms of a cold. You know...cough, stuffy nose, sore throat. On Saturday we had gone to a birthday party where she had over exerted herself and by that night she was a mess. In fact this girl was so miserable that while we were at the furniture store picking out Chase's new bed, she would lie on the first couch that was available instead of going to the playroom. (yes, the store had a playroom. all stores should have them).
Needless to say, we did not make it to church on Sunday. No school on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday she went but was totally exhausted from coughing all night. No school today due to a doctor's appointment and a teacher's in-service day tomorrow. And she must REALLY feel yucky because she opted out of her swim lessons this week. She's in the sinus drip phase of her cold now which means that no medication in the world will keep her from coughing all night.
Chase is our next victim. So far he's not as bad as Jorden but I'm expecting him to get worse. He's got the stuffy nose and cough. For now I'm going to nip it in the bud and try to keep ahead of it. Lots of good, healthy food and orange juice.
Between Jorden's coughing and Chase not being able to get comfortable at night, all three of us are beyond tired. What's ironic about this whole thing was that I was going to take the kids for flu shots. Can't get them now. At least not until they're back to normal. Through this battle of the germs one thing keeps popping in my head....
I'm next.
