Lightning Strikes

Tonight I got to do something with my kids that I used to do all the time when I was their age: We went outside and caught lightning bugs! This was the first time Jorden and Chase got to do this because we don't have lightning bugs at our house. Jason got a jar for the kids and I helped them catch the bugs and put them in. After a while we let them all go. It was so amazing watching the kids try to catch them and the looks on their faces when they did get one. Chase was so cute running through the yard with his hands outstretched, hoping that one will land on his hand. We didn't get any pictures because we were having so much fun that we didn't even think of grabbing the camera. I just love doing things with my kids that I used to do when I was their age.

After catching lightning bugs, we all sat around a campfire that Jason and Jack made and we roasted marshmallows and made smores. *Note to self: marshmallows and chocolate aren't the best things to give small children before bedtime*
