I'm about to prove that I'm an absolute weenie with no life.
My favorite show ended tonight. For those of you that don't know, my favorite show is ER. Seriously, I was really, really sad that it came to an end. I mean, I planned my whole Thursday schedule around ER for 15 years. You could bother me at anytime but Thursdays at 10pm you better wait until a commercial comes on.
So why is ER ending such a big deal? Well, it's the longest running medical drama in history. There aren't many other serial shows that have run longer except Guiding Light, Gunsmoke, and The Simpsons (which should have been canceled a LONG time ago!). And it was the show that made George Clooney a star.
So I'm going to post some of my favorite highlights from the show. First is what I think is the absolute saddest moment. This comes from the episode "On The Beach". This is the episode where Dr. Mark Greene dies. I cried so hard and loud that Jason came running downstairs from a sound sleep to see what was wrong.
Most shocking moment has to be when Dr. Romano loses his arm in "Chaos Theory". I'm kinda squeamish about these things so for me to see that and it be totally unexpected... well... I don't remember what happened for the rest of the episode because I was too stunned to pay attention. I still look away when I watch the rerun. *WARNING--IT IS SHOWN IS THIS VIDEO SO IT REALLY ISN'T FOR THE SQUEAMISH*
I think everyone has an episode in a TV show that really just hits too close to home for them. I don't think I have to explain this one at all.
Now there are "happy" moments, the "WTF!" moments, and the "Stand Up and Cheer" moments that I remember from the show but let's face it, the show is a "drama". It's all about the drama that kept it moving for 15 years. I can't imagine what I'm going to do on Thursdays now.
So here's to you! To ER, my favorite show, my Thursday night companion, and proof that I have absolutely no life outside of my house! :-)
