We all know that this country has an obesity problem, especially that with children. If you haven't noticed, it's affecting clothing sizes. Sizes are getting bigger and bigger. Well, this is becoming a huge problem for those of us in the minority with incredibly skinny kids. So while this an easy fix for most (because after all, it's much easier to buy bigger clothes than go out and exercise) it's a big problem for parents like me who can no longer find clothes that properly fit.
Unfortunately my kids are at the shallow end of the gene pool when it comes to weight. So I've had to rely heavily on adjustable waistbands and belt loops. Seriously, how many 6 month old babies do you know that had to wear a belt? So I have my favorite stores that sell clothes that fit my kids rather well and I stick to them.
The big problem I'm experiencing, especially with Jorden, is finding a bathing suit. I really don't want her in a two piece because let's face it, most of them are inappropriate for a girl her age. I've tried one pieces but the issue I'm having is that she just doesn't have the butt or thighs to fill it out. So if it droops a bit when it's dry, imagine what it will do when it's wet. I can't put her in the next size down because we run into the issue of constant wedgies. Girl's board shorts don't work because when she sits down, everyone is going to get a show.
What I'm thinking is that I'm going to have to get a girl's top with boy's trunks. I know the top will fit her and at least with the shorts the drawstring will keep it snug around the waist and they'll be long enough that she's not showing the world her goodies. So it's off to Target I go to return yet another bathing suit.
