My New Discovery

With our impending move, we have accumulated a whole garage full of stuff that we need to get rid of. Unfortunately the weather hasn't been very cooperative in order for us to have a moving sale. I didn't want to fuss with ebay because we need to sell a lot of stuff quickly. So after hearing raves from people, I decided to give this thing called Craig's list a try.

I just want to say that "I heart Craig's list!". I advertised one item, Jorden's old play kitchen, just to see what kind of return I would get. It was only listed a few hours before I had a hit. The kitchen set has sold so we are going to list a bunch more items this week. And if we do get the chance to have a moving sale, we can advertise it right there on the site.

Oh Craig's list, where have you been all my life?

I'll make another suggestion. For stuff that doesn't sell, or that you just want to get rid of for free, don't just toss it...check out your local freecycle™. Go to www.freecycle.org and find the freecycle group closest to you. Then you can post items you want gotten rid of, and people will come pick it up. Be sure to know the rules of your local group, though. Some don't allow certain things posted. All tell you that you shouldn't put your personal information in the initial post. They don't want "pick up at the curb" or "first come first served". But it's a GREAT way to get rid of stuff. I'm a moderator for our local group here in KS, and I just recently got rid of: a pair of skiis that had broken bindings; two bunny tins and a big Easter basket, a big bag of miscellaneous stuff (like old cassettes, etc), a kite that I couldn't fly (requires two hands and skills, lol), a red tricycle, and a huge bag of old BDU's and out-of-date uniforms.

Yeah, I could have tried to sell them, but it was easier to get rid of them for free. Now...I WILL be posting the set of Army Blues, since those will be the "class A" uniform soon. I know I'll get someone to buy those, as long as the size is right!
