Thanksgiving is not my favorite holiday. The reason why is because my inlaws are here to visit. Now I adore my father-in-law. I wish I had a dad like Jack when I was growing up. He's incredibly patient and will drop everything to help you out.
I used to get along with my mother-in-law but that was before Jason and I got married. Then it all started to go downhill. She needs to control everyone around her and will stop at nothing in order to get it. So when we got married, she would put on this weepy-psycho routine in order to get us to bend to her will. When Jorden was born I refused to put up with it and my foot went down. Jason still sided with her and it wasn't until I actually started divorce proceedings that he wised up.
Now Teri thinks that just because she's here, she can do whatever she wants with the kids. She contradicts me everytime I enforce discipline and questions everything I do. Sorry but my thinking is just because the grandparents are here that's no excuse for bad behavior. We got into an arguement about Christmas presents for the kids. She bought them these huge gifts to unwrap Christmas day. Then she would tell them that she'll ship them up to Alaska. Does anyone else see a problem with this? All my kids are going to understand is that they got a great toy and then it's taken away. Well, it helps that my husband finally grew a backbone and he actually sided with me on the matter.
Jason will be deployed soon after we arrive in Alaska and most wives would pray that they come home. I pray that he will come home but it's because if he doesn't, I'd have to fight to keep my own kids. I'm scared to death that if Jason dies, she will try to take custody of my kids. I'm making Jason put a provision in his will that states if she tries, she forfeits all rights to them. Period.
I'm glad their gone. Although now Jason is in a bad mood and Jorden's acting all weepy. I really don't care. We've got a few weeks before I have to put up with the other dumb dirty rednecks in Jason's family so I better get ready.
