Desperate Measures

I'm not going to get much sleep tonight because I'm going to be worried about Chase.

Earlier today, while carrying him, he bumped his toe against the edge of a doorway. He isn't one to dwell on injuries so he cried for a minute, I kissed his boo-boo, and he was just fine for the rest of the day.

About an hour after I put him to bed, he woke up sobbing. I went into his room and I just couldn't understand what his problem was between broken English and wails. So after I offer to have him lay in my bed, he wakes up crying again. I discover that his big toe (the one he hit earlier) is the problem. It doesn't look broken but it is a little red. In this case you reach for the Children's Tylenol, right? Well I didn't have any (or any kind of children's pain reliever) and I don't know of any places in the area that are open 24 hrs.

So after close to an hour of trying to console him I realize I have to do something. He had to be in A LOT of pain for him to carry on like this. So I get the 800mg Motrin pills. I grab a knife and cut off a tiny piece and let him take it with lots and lots of water (even though I tried to get him to just swallow it, he ended up chewing it anyway). So now I'm going to be up all night wondering if I gave him too much and if he's going to be okay. He's asleep right now, breathing fine. I keep telling myself that I had to do something. He doesn't act like this for just a simple bump.

Enough typing. I need to check on him again.

I tried to comment on this earlier, but blogger was being a PITA...so it's taken this long. Sorry.

I hope Chase is better. My BIL is a doctor, and he's broken up adult pills and given them to kids before, so don't worry too much. And get to the post pharmacy when you can and get some "cold packs" with the tylenol and motrin ASAP!!!
