Good News For A Change

Today I had the best ever P-T conference. Usually going to these things gives me heartburn. I usually hear stuff like, "Jorden works hard BUT..." or "Jorden is very sweet BUT..." Today was different.

For once, since Jorden has been going to school, I had a P-T conference where her teachers had not a single negative thing to say. There were no "buts" in our conversation. Jorden has improved immensely in such a short period of time. We've only been here two months and there's been a whirlwind of change that we haven't had a chance to get used to but Jorden is just plowing through and coming out on top. She's getting her work done with little prompt from her teachers and her reading just may be at grade level by the time the year's out.

I give most of the credit to her teachers. Mr. Uson makes learning really fun for the kids. Everyday Jorden tells me about something silly that Mr. Uson did that day. Mr. Uson has this really great reward system for the kids using real money. Let's face it, at this age kids want to see that they're doing well rather than get just some empty praise and that's what her teachers provide.

For the first time I left a P-T conference with a smile. I couldn't be more proud of Jorden. She has the day off on Friday but Chase will be in school until 1pm so I'm taking her to lunch to celebrate. Yay Jorden!!!

it's a great feeling, isn't it? I give credit to mom, too...keeping your family life as regular as possible even though you've had a move and deployment within the last 3 months...kudos to you AND Jorden!
