Last night my friend Melissa and I went to a rock concert. The band we saw was a group call Staind. We had general admission seating for the floor so that basically means that there's no chairs. You stand there and get as close to the stage as possible.
The concert was great but unfortunately I put on a show of my own: When Staind took the stage, it seemed like a whole different crowd--much more rowdy. Everyone who was on the floor was trying to get as close as possible so that meant we all were literally nose to nose. So you mix together the little alcohol that I drank (I had two beers during the opening act), the extreme closeness of the crowd, moving around to rock out, getting slammed by people in the mosh pit, being dehydrated, and the heat, it made my body completely shut down.
That's right, I passed out. And not just for a couple seconds. It was more like a few minutes.
Right before it happened, I remember losing my balance and pitching forward into someone. Next thing I remember is looking up and seeing a bunch of people wearing EVENT STAFF shirts standing in front of me and my first thought was, "Oh crap." From what Melissa told me, she saw me swaying back and forth and she managed to catch me before I hit the ground. She was holding me up while a guy behind us was pushing people from the mosh pit away from us. I swear this guy was our guardian angel. He would save our spots and because he was so tall, he would wave his hands to guide us back so Melissa and I didn't get separated. Anyway, SuperGuy and Melissa dragged me away from the heavy crowd and towards the back. She said that once we got to where there was more air and less bodies around, I woke up almost immediately. I remember she and SuperGuy (we have no clue what his name was!) took me to the water fountains where I swear I drank about a gallon of water. I sat down for about 15 minutes and we headed back in to the show. I was still pretty woozy so we stayed towards the back until the show was over.
This kind of stuff could only happen to me!
