Because of some pregnancy complications, I'm sorry to say that Jorden's teacher, Mrs. Z, had to go on early maternity leave. It's nothing overly serious. She has gestational diabetes and her blood sugar is shooting through the roof. She's at 37 weeks and her doctor wants her to take it easy. Jorden is REALLY bummed about this. So am I. Mrs. Z is such a great teacher. She's helped Jorden out so much this year. Her patience and understanding helped Jorden cover a lot of ground although she still has a long way to go. Mrs. Z worked really hard with the Student Services Team to get Jorden the testing and the special classes that she needs to help her catch up. She also helped me understand that some of Jorden's academic struggles are normal and some aren't.
So for the remainder of the school year, a substitute will be covering the class. We were really blessed that Jorden had such a wonderful, caring teacher. You really don't find those too often anymore. Mrs. Z has also decided to take the next year off to spend time with the baby. I hope that she stops in once in awhile to see how Jorden is doing. I know Jorden won't let her down.
