Stuff Happens

Lotta stuff going on around here:

Jason's deployment has been bumped up. What was a matter of a couple weeks is now a couple days. Jason has sat Jorden down and explained it all to her. She seems okay with it. I'm trying to get Chase to stop asking "Where Daddy go?" the second Jason steps out of a room. I just don't want to hear it every 5 minutes while he's gone. As for me, well, that really doesn't matter, does it? I can be fine or a mess. Either way, Jason will still be gone.

Ever listen to someone and all you want to do is tell them to "stuff it"? I had that experience today with Jorden's teacher. A couple weeks ago I went to pick up Jorden from school and she wasn't there. I ran into the building and her teacher and I are trying to track her down. Naturally I'm panicked and upset because my child is missing. I talk to Jason on the phone and he sees her rounding the corner to our house because she decided to walk home by herself. Because I'm the type of parent who will hug their child then promptly throttle them for pulling a stunt like that, Jorden's teacher brought it to my attention that my reaction was felt to be "negative" not only by him but by other people as well. I stood there and listened all the while thinking where he can stick my "negative" reaction because you know what? I can't imagine a mother in the world who wouldn't have been panicked, happy, and mad all at the same time when their child deliberately goes missing and then found. But anyway the whole purpose of me even talking to him was to inform that Jorden will not be in school for most of next week. I want the kids to spend as much time as possible with Jason.

Speaking of school, Chase absolutely LOVES daycare. I never have any problems dropping him off and he gets upset on the days when he doesn't go. And the fit that he throws when it's time to come home really is a sight to see. He plays well with the other kids and I haven't been told about any behavior issues. I'm not used to that because of all the things I go through with Jorden.

I'm getting really pissed off at Jason's mom (what else is new?). She keeps talking me out of having my cat shipped up. She says it's too expensive and blah, blah, blah. Well, it's my money and my cat and none of her damn business. She's not acting like this because she's grown attached to him or anything. My poor kitty was tossed out to the garage the minute they took him. And she made it very clear that they would take no precautions to keep him from getting loose. I think something happened to him and she's trying to buy some time. After all she said, "If you want your cat so bad go to the pound and get a kitten." Come on, what would you think after hearing that?

It DOES matter about you...you're right, you can be fine or a mess, and Jason will still be deployed...but you have to take care of you and love on you. Because if you don't, the kids will feel it; you KNOW that.

The teacher? I'd tell him to go pound. Seriously. I react the same way. Grab the kid, hug the hell out of them, then, by the same turn, shake them by the shoulders and holler, "don't you EVER do that again! Don't you KNOW how much you scared me?". It's a truly natural parental (mom most likely) reaction to an endangered child!

And you better tell your MIL to fess up. Either the cat's gone and she's responsible (tell her she better check the pound herself and find YOUR cat), or she is truly just to lazy to send your kitty to you. For animal lovers, pets are part of the family. We certainly wouldn't go out and replace a lost child with another one. Pets are like that for us too.
