We did check one thing off our pre-deployment list when we took the kids to Build-A-Bear workshop to make their "Daddy Bears". This was something that I really wanted to do and no matter how sick I was, we were going to get it done. The kids got to pick out their own animal, dress it, and Jason recorded a special message for each one that they can play when they really start to miss Daddy. Jorden picked out a pink bear and dressed it in a Tinkerbell outfit (of course, she's a Tinkaholic!) Chase picked out a brown bunny with camoflage boxer shorts (which he called "daddy undies") and a leather jacket that looks just like his. We do have to take Chase's back to the store because the voice recorder stopped working when we brought it home. Other than that, the kids really like their special bears.

I didn't realize Jorden was a Tinkaholic...so's my daughter.
And what a neat idea - to get daddy to record a special message in them for deployments. You should consider sending that idea to Build-A-Bear and see if they'd give discounts to families who make "deployment bears"....
My word verification: Mixeque - is that a new way to spell Mexico?
