I had a nice little video tour of our house that I wanted to post but after waiting over an hour for the thing to upload I just gave up. So I'll post about something else.
I once heard the saying, "When your pants don't drag". That means that when you reach the maturity level needed (i.e. you grow into your pants), you can do certain things. An example would be turning 16 and getting your driver's license. Just because your old enough, it doesn't mean you're ready. So just because you wear the pants, it doesn't mean they fit.
Since we've been in Alaska Jorden has had the opportunity to "grow into her pants". No longer do I take her into the school and walk down to class with her. Now I simply drop her off outside. We now get to walk to and from school everyday and she also gets to buy her lunch at school.
Well I caught her doing something the other day that I knew she wasn't ready for: she was walking her by herself. I was on my way to get her and I almost didn't see her. I walked right past her before I realized it was her. What's worse was she was walking home with a classmate that's not supposed to walk home. Her dad comes and picks her up. And I only discovered that fact when we headed back to the parking lot to find Jorden's missing glove and the little girl's dad was there waiting for her. I figured that the school parking lot was not the best place for me to whoop her little behind so she got a royal chewing-out for the stunt.
I did tell her that if she can tell me which way to go to get home, then I'll consider her walking by herself. Sure enough, she would have turned down the wrong street and gotten lost. So when it comes to walking home, her pants are still dragging. Maybe in the spring they'll fit.

Hey, you should check post regulations. In Hawaii, children weren't allowed to walk without an adult until they were ten. I'm kind of surprised that the school would just let them go like that.
