The Doctor Is In

Jason has the worst case of strep throat I have ever seen. It's so bad that when he handed me a flashlight to look down his throat, I didn't need it in order to see the white spots all over the back of his mouth. It's simply awful. He's already been given antibiotics so all we can do is wait it out.

While he's resting, it's been my job to keep the kids occupied and doing things I don't normally do like *gasp* COOKING! I made dinner last night and it wasn't burned! We had chicken quesadilla (okay, it was a dinner kit, so I cheated a bit) and for lunch today I took the leftover tortillas and cheese and made grilled chicken wraps. Even those turned out well! Hmm.... I hope Jason doesn't think that I'm going to do that all the time.

As for keeping them occupied, that's another matter. Yesterday we went to lunch and they behaved rather well. Then we went to the farmers market and it all went downhill. Their behavior was horrendous! They kept grabbing everything, dropping it on the floor, and I even caught Chase eating the rind off of a lemon. I'm sure the employees couldn't wait for us to leave. I was going to take them for ice cream but not after that disaster.

My job has also included getting Jason whatever he needs. I've been to CVS and Walmart several times picking up orange juice, ice cream, and chamomille tea. I don't mind because it's giving me more practice driving the truck. Which, by the way, is getting better. I've gone from stalling out to jerking forward and squealing tires.

Jason only had quarters for two days so he's going back to sick call tomorrow because his throat is just beyond awful. Is it weird for me to want to get sick so I can be babied?
