Have you ever done something completely stupid, so stupid in fact, that the only thing you want to do is turn back time and fix it? Well I'm there.
I just failed one of my classes because I'm a complete moron. The professor (who was a bit of a jerk anyway) decided to change the final around. No problem, I hadn't started on it anyway. He sent a bunch of emails telling us what he wanted. I read them all.... all but the one about when the due date was. With everything that had gone on with the kids this week, I completely missed it.
But here's the stupid part: I had the thing done well before the due date. But I didn't turn it in because I wanted to see the class averages first so I can get a good idea about how the professor was grading them.
I turned it in a day late (which I thought was the due date) and even though I explained that I missed his email because I had more important things going on, he still won't accept the paper. I guess that's his choice because he is the teacher I also think that's kind of crappy (that's putting it nicely).
So I failed my first class....ever. I just spent the past hour sobbing on Jason's shoulder. I wouldn't feel so bad if I actually did all the work but just couldn't manage a passing grade. I failed because I was an idiot.
This situation calls for beer. And lots of it.....

I'm so sorry Barbara! I wonder if there's anything the school can do. I mean, I can't believe he just up and changed the due date! I can understand if he had changed it to a later date, but my gosh, to expect it a day early? Seriously, maybe you can dispute your grade and explain all the medical craziness of the week, maybe the school can intervene somehow. I don't blame you for crying. I would be a mess right now. =(
Email your advisor. Throw up a storm. In the end you are paying for this....it's worth a try. I mean what if the email never got to you?? Your school should have some kind of system like WebCT or Blackboard where everyone can see the due dates not just by email. If not, you may want to find a new school.
day late and dollar short, but I agree with both Suzanne and Laurie...the school should be using WebCT or something....fight, fight, fight!!!
