Whenever there is something wrong with Jorden at school, I'm the type of mom who would rather solve the problem over the phone rather than drive out there and do it. That's mostly because of how far away we live. There were times when I did take the journey back out to school, like when she got hit in the mouth with a rock and chipped a tooth, or the time she had chicken pox. But there was that time that she forgot her glasses and I told her that she'd just have to be blind for the day.
So this morning Chase and I weren't even in the door 5 minutes when her school called. Apparently while Jorden was in her reading class, she started breaking out in red bumps. Her teacher said they were hives and that they were just on her arms and a little on her knees. My first thought was to give her Benadryl but the school doesn't have written authorization from me to give her medicine. What to do? I didn't want to drive out there to pick her up which is what the nurse wanted me to do.
So I called Jason to see if he can spare 45 minutes from work to go give her some Benadryl. He's much closer to the school than I am and with his job, he can disappear for hours at a time. He just tells everyone he's going shopping for for DFAC. He hopes he has the same job in Alaska.
So Jason gets her the Benadryl and tells me that she's fine. Jorden just had a few small bumps on her arms but not a major reaction (I have no idea what caused it anyway). She'll probably be groggy when she gets home but it saved me from getting back in the car.

It's good that Jason can do that....like you, I'd rather avoid getting back in the car. Once, my daughter missed the bus and I was OH so tempted to say walk...but there is no SAFE route home, since to get to our house, you have to be on a busy road. I also almost called my friend to see if she'd picked up her kids, lol! But since my daughter doesn't miss the bus often, I just got in the car and got her.
Benadryl knocks my kids out completely...no drowsiness...just plain out cold! (me too, for that matter!)
