The Shallow End Of The Gene Pool

When it comes to looks, I must say that the kids got the best that Jason and I had to offer. I know it sounds snobbish but we really do make cute kids! Unfortunately when it comes to other attributes such as height, weight, and vision, Jorden and Chase lost out. They are both short, underweight, and have crappy vision.

I took Chase to his first eye exam this morning. His vision is okay but he already has astigmatism. That's not surprising to hear because Jason, Jorden, and I all have it as well. So it won't be a shock if next year Chase will need to wear glasses. Oh that's a fun thought: Putting a 3 year old in glasses. Better make sure I get the super bendy kind with the full warranty.

The bad part about it is that based on our vision history, it will only get worse as the kids get older. Our kids are doomed to have bad eyes for the rest of their lives unless they do what Jason did and get lasik. But at least I know they will look incredibly cute in their glasses!

Like your kids, mine got the best of the bargain in looks, but rolled craps in height...I'm 5'2", dad's 5'7"...not much chance of them being TALL. But they hit the mother lode with talent, thank God...since we're both musicians, they can carry a tune (my son is REALLY good at singing). Both my hubby and I came late in the glassses scene...him at 13, me at 21...hope the kids can avoid THAT.

And you might want to stock up at zennioptical.com for cheap glasses later on!
