We had an excellent visit with Jason. To be quite honest, I think that his leave, although it was great having him home, was more torture than pleasure. He leaves and we adjust to a new routine. Then he comes home and things go back to the way they were. Just as we get used to him home, he leaves again and I'm left to deal with the fallout. But for the most part, I wouldn't have traded it for anything.
Jason's parents, much to my dismay, came up for part of his leave. I have to admit that we had a good visit. One thing I like about his parents is that when they visit, we don't have to play tourist. They do their research beforehand and know what they want to do when they arrive. It takes all the guesswork out of "So what do you want to do today?" We did stuff that we normally wouldn't have done. We went to a reindeer farm (a glorified petting zoo....yuck), took a glacier cruise (which was nice until about 30 min in and I thought I was going to vomit), and we took a float plane ride around Anchorage to view the scenery. Unfortunately the kids couldn't go on that trip but since Teri doesn't like to fly she happily took the kids on a shopping spree at Toys R Us. Because his family was visiting, Jason and I had a lot of time to spend together. It was kinda nice spending one on one time. Any parent knows that those moments are few and far between.
We did have some time just the four of us. We finally set up our tropical fish tank. After many water and filter adjustments, and dead fish (good thing is wasn't saltwater, I'd have lost a fortune!), we finally got it going and even discovered some babies.
After lots of thought and prayer, (and discussion with Jason) I finally decided to go with what I originally wanted to do since high school. I'm going to enter the police academy. Well, not right away. I changed my major to criminal justice and I'll go when I'm done with school. I know that I don't need a degree but I'm halfway done already, I might as well finish. I wouldn't do it if Jason wasn't so supportive. He thinks it's great idea.
Jorden starts school on Aug 19. I don't know who's more excited, me or her. This year she can ride her bike to school since we finally lost the training wheels. Chase is still on a waiting list for preschool. I should hear something in the next couple weeks. If he doesn't get in I'll still send him to hourly care 3 days a week. It really isn't as crowded in there during the year as it is during the summer so he'll still get as much learning stimulation as he would in a regular class.
That's pretty much all there is. Life here isn't too exciting. I will try to keep up and post more often.
I know I don't look very happy in the next couple pictures but see how happy you look when you're about to lose your lunch.
The kids with Uncle Nick. I think this picture is so cute!
After our float plane ride. If you're ever in Alaska I highly recommend taking one. It was awesome!

it's about time! Wondered where you were!!!
Sounds like, all in all, the R&R visit was a success, even with the extended family there. While you may not have really wanted to share Jason, they did give you the opportunity to be together alone! I love the picture of the kids and Uncle Nick - Jorden looks like she's having a BLAST!!!
