Uh Oh....

Jorden likes a boy. You know, that whole "like-likes" a boy. She told me this when she saw him at church yesterday. I don't recall ever seeing him before and I don't even know his name. But she kept saying how cute he was and how much she liked him. She even started complimenting his clothes. Now I'm glad that she felt she could tell me these things but I'll admit I was a little weirded out to hear my little girl talk like this.

So, what to do? Do I just let it play out or tell her that boys are absolutely off limits? I did what first came to mind. I told her that while having boys as friends and playing together is fine, she is much too young to be worried about having a "special" friendship with a boy. Then she argued with me that she was 8 years old and old enough. Well, I said that there is a lot of responsibility involved with having a boyfriend and it's somthing that God and myself do not thing she's ready for. For right now there are other things that are more important.

Yeah I know I'll only delay the inevitable for so long. There will come a time when she'll be completely boy crazy. I can only pray that that she uses God's wisdom and guidance to avoid the mistakes that I made.
